Nasal breathing – secret of optimal health

Breath is essential; we can only survive few seconds without it. Humans have the capability to breath with the two nostrils and also with the mouth during emergency .Otherwise we are ideally supposed to breathe through our nostrils. 

Here are some reasons why nasal breathing is essential.

Nasal breathing activates parasympathetic nervous system through which our  body enters into a relaxed state, which helps to break down the stress mechanism that reduces stress and anxiety.

Nasal breathing warms up the air and match’s the air with our body temperature. It also humidifiers and filter the air, we miss out on this vital advantage when we are breathing through the mouth.

Our nose has small hair and mucus lining they trap the any bacteria, germs or harmful substances that entering in our system, thus helps protect our body from harmful pathogens and materials.

When we are breathing through our nose we are able to take more than 10 to 20% oxygen intake.

Scientific study has shown that nitric oxide is produce in nasal cavities and through nasal breathing it is transferred to lower airways and lungs. Nitric oxide plays very important role in immunity, it dilate our blood vessels and regulate our BP, keeps our arteries young and helps to maintain cholesterol and homeostasis at a healthy rate.

With this understanding lets breath through our nose.
